COVID-19 Q&A

COVID-19

Keeping our residents and employees healthy and safe is a top priority of Lockwood Companies. We have been monitoring the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation closely and we continue to develop and implement policies and procedures that concentrate on our main focus of prevention.

What is Lockwood doing in response to COVID-19?

All Communities:

  • All staff members were emailed relevant reference and informational notices published by the CDC regarding the virus.
  • All staff members, trades, mail carriers, third party contracted staff, pharmacy couriers, and visitors are required to fill out the COVID-19 Employee/Visitor Screening Tool distributed on 3/12/2020.
  • Staff members have been instructed to wash hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds immediately upon entering community buildings.
  • Staff members have been instructed to sanitize “as they go” ensuring any surfaces they may touch in the course of doing their work have been sanitized.
  • All community offices and interior common areas are being sanitized daily.
  • Letters have been distributed to all residents informing them of the steps they should take to safeguard themselves and their families.
  • Announcements have been posted on all office entrances discouraging visits from those who may have been exposed to the virus.
  • Residents have been notified they should visit the offices on an “appointment-only” basis.
  • Residents have been informed to make rental payments on-line or via drop-boxes only.
  • Residents have been informed to place service requests on-line or via phone or email only.
  • All package deliveries and mail service are to be outside the front door of each community office.
  • Only Emergency service requests are being addressed in resident units until further notice.
  • Outside contractors are only being allowed in resident units for emergency services, if needed.
  • All resident and other gatherings, events, and meetings have been cancelled until further notice. Any room deposits will be returned.
  • If a resident exhibits symptoms of the virus or informs our staff they have been infected, the County Health Department will be contacted immediately for guidance and the resident will be encouraged to self-quarantine.

What is Lockwood Senior Living doing in response to COVID-19?

The risk for COVID-19 increases at age 60, with the highest incidence of risk at age 80 and above. We are actively following infection control protocols and other guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and our local and state health agencies. Therefore in addition to the protocols set for all of Lockwood Companies we also have additional precautions for our Senior Living Sites.

We are taking precautionary measures, following the lead of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and State and local Health Departments. In an effort to protect resident health, it is critical that we minimize potential exposure from outside our communities. To that end, we are restricting guests from visiting our communities until further notice. We will only permit resident caregivers or family members on-site who are providing necessary medical treatments, support of Activities of Daily Living, or hospice care.

All permitted caregivers and family members must submit a complete COVID-19 Employee/Visitor Screening Tool upon arrival. All of our employees and essential caregivers will also be given a wellness screen administered by medical staff. Caregivers and family members will be limited to the resident apartment and may not be in the common areas of the community.

Our dining rooms at our Senior Living sites will be closed and we will move to a meal delivery system within the community.

In this uncertain time, we deem these measures necessary in order to provide a happy and healthy environment for our residents. We are taking this crisis very seriously and we are doing everything in our power to minimize the risk and potential exposure to our residents.

May I visit my family member or loved one?

We understand that you want to see your family members and loved ones and this is a really difficult time. We need to protect our residents from COVID-19, therefore we have implemented a no visitor policy. The only visitors allowed are those that are essential to the critical care of the residents. We will only permit resident caregivers or family members on-site who are providing necessary medical treatments, support of Activities of Daily Living, or hospice care.

We encourage family members and friends to stay in touch by video chats, phone calls, texts or emails. No visitors at any time will be allowed to enter if they have respiratory symptoms, have traveled within the last 14 days, have had possible exposure to COVID-19 or do not pass Lockwood’s wellness screening.

What can I do?

We understand these are unprecedented times. Lockwood is implementing new policies and procedures almost daily in order to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 to our employees, residents and families. We appreciate you understanding and adherence to our polices. Although it may be difficult to not visit a loved one, the policy is in place to keep our residents and employees safe and healthy.

How will I know if there is an occurrence of COVID-19 in a community?

Lockwood will follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the state and local health departments.

If I have additional questions who should I contact?
